Hilton Head Island and the 50th Wedding Anniversary

Gather up 8 adults, 3 teens, 2 pre-teens, and a toddler.  Place them in a gorgeous three story beach house on Hilton Head Island.  Add 90 degree sunny weather with short afternoon storms to cool everything off, fresh shrimp,  and a hootenanny.  What does it equal?  A rockin' awesome week of fun-filled fun to celebrate my parents' 50th wedding anniversary.

Tom (my bro) and Parks (my newest nephew) enjoying the pool.

Dad, Elizabeth, and Annabelle.  Shrimp time!

Ted (my bro) cooking up five pounds of shrimp!

My running shoes just in case it's not too hot to run.  HA!
Cannonball!

My friend, Wendy, stopped by the house.  This is her son, Adam.

Her son, Adrian, having fun!

Aaron learned to play several songs on the uke!

Mini golf and texting go hand in hand.

Prep for Elizabeth's 9th birthday!

Parks is a cutie!

Saw an alligator on our walk to the beach.  Yikes!

Make a wish

"I think we're going to have an awkward sibling hug," says Elizabeth.

Kayaking on a cloudy cooler morning.  Perfecto!

Eight of us went kayaking for two hours.  Saw three dolphins and lots of birds.

LOVE this pic!

Easy to pass through the weed beds.  Saw schools of fish and oyster beds.

Flying the stunt kite.  We got in trouble twice for flying it during non-permissible hours.  Oops.

Hold on, Aaron!
Hope that was enough pics to show you our week.  We played mini golf twice, went crabbing, fishing, shopping, and more.  If I had space, I would list out all the great food we had, including my friend, Becky's, frog eye salad.  Delish!

On our second day at the beach, I had an unfriendly encounter with a jellyfish (or two), and was stung five different places, resulting in many many many stings.  My Dad pulled me out of the water quickly, and the kids saw me squirt tears.  The areas are slowly healing as I slather them with calamine lotion, ice packs, vinegar, and more.  Hope they heal soon as they're quite a sight to see.

Now it's time to detox from the sugar and snack food, get serious with my running, and publish that dang book, so I can buy a Mini Cooper!  *grin*
